Yet another free option for a DIY PVR / DVR

Media PortalOn July 3rd, the Media Portal project rolled out version 0.2.0.0 of their software. Although this software is still far from an official 1.0 release, it is great to have yet another alternative. Media Portal is designed to be run on Windows machines (XP SP2 is recommended) and it also has support for quite a few different tuner cards.

The biggest beef that I have heard about Media Portal in the past is that it can be slow. This can be true of any PVR / DVR software though. I have not tried this newer version, but from what I gather there have been a lot of improvements.
