Using PVRs / DVRs with cell phones
There is an article carried by the Associate Press (a copy can be seen here) that describes Motorola’s foray into the PVR / DVR world. At the CITA Wireless 2006 convention in Las Vegas, they were demonstrating technology that allowed them to transfer DVR content via a USB cable to a RAZR V3x phone that was equipped with a memory card and a MPEG-4 decoder.
According to the article Motorola is hoping to strike some sort of deal with cable and telecom companies. There is also no word when this will be released or for how much.
Although a 512 MB memory card is supposed to hold 1.5 hours of video, there is no mention of how long it would take to encode that video. Personally I think I would rather watch video on my iPod. The screen is bigger and it is easier to find content that is already encoded.
